During the COVID-19 pandemic, CPAP and BiPAP machines, typically used to treat sleep apnea, were adapted as emergency respiratory support for patients with mild-to-moderate symptoms. Following 2020 FDA guidance permitting these modifications amid critical equipment shortages, CVS rapidly made these devices available in-store without a formal marketing rollout.
Initial displays were highly utilitarian, and early analytics revealed that while demand was present, limited product information led to customer confusion and hesitation. To address this, I designed an updated retail display system that paired clear visual merchandising with an integrated take-away guide. This approach provided accessible, easy-to-understand information at the point of decision, improving product comprehension and supporting more confident purchasing decisions during a time-sensitive public health crisis.
